I brought my little brother Spencer as my date and when I told him I was nominated for this [Hot & Funny] award, he told me that if under any circumstances I won, I had to say the following things.

Just another reason to love Emma Stone.

This week in Pop Love

Robert Downey Jr in "Iron Man 2"

Obviously my job involves a lot of pop culture consumption and my friends tend to rely on me for TV spoilers, new movie previews, viral videos etc etc etc. Today when I sent my sister the link to EW.com’s recap of the Vampire Diaries’s finale, she informed me that she was too late! She’d already read it. And then I posted a trailer on a friend’s FB wall, only to have her reply she’d heard of this movie already. Eeek! I’m becoming relatively obsolete.

So now, I’m just going to post the pop-tastic items that have delighted me the most this week here for all the world to see.

Best TV episode: I know I shall be sneered upon for this one but I’m giving it to The Vampire Diaries finale. D and I screamed/yelled ourselves hoarse watching it last night together and I was WIRED for hours after. And I think I want to watch it again this weekend if it’s on OnDemand.
Honourable mention goes to: Glee (possibly my favourite compilation of songs in one episode yet!) and Bones (who did an awesome job going back to a second season case with the trial of the Grave digger).

Best movie: Iron Man 2 - I saw the damn thing twice in the span of 3 days (once on Sunday and again on Tuesday)! Fans and critics alike have said it’s not as good as the first one, and maybe it isn’t. But it was EXACTLY what I wanted from a blockbuster-y action flick. And RDJ is, as always, pure joy to watch!

Movie trailer that’s got me psyched: Easy A. After re-watching Sydney White last weekend with girlfriends, we commented on the disappearance of Amanda Bynes and how we missed her lollipop head and awkward but hilarious comedic stylings. She’s back (although her role looks a little like a poor man’s Mandy Moore in Saved!) and playing opposite the hot and hilarious Emma Stone.

Best thing I read: Kristin Chenoweth’s and Glee creator Ryan Murphy’s responses to the controversial Newsweek article by Ramin Setoodeh. Megan Mullally also talked about it - but I have yet to read her whole response here

Celeb verbal smackdown: Kelly Cutrone on MTV’s The City in regards to Whitney Port’s toxic frenemy Olivia. A lot of it was bleeped out due to expletives but there was something about her being a shark and Olivia being in a glass bottom boat…It was epic!

Ok, I think that’s about it for now. I missed the Smallville season finale tonight - eeps! Will have to do an online viewing this weekend, post-Harry Potter exhibit at the Ontario Science Centre (which I’m headed to tomorrow morning!!).
