William in a cowboy hat, rolled up sleeves and jeans reminds me of all those years I had a crush on him as a young teenager, pre-hair loss (his, not mine as it’s still luscious). He looked HOT at the Calgary Stampede yesterday. (Clearly going to high school in Calgary has factored into my version of what I find a attractive on/in a man - who knew!?)
The two lovebirds Western’d up and seemed to enjoy themselves tremendously at the event. I didn’t get to see William’s speech but reading quotes here and there this morning made me tear up a little. I’m SUCH A SOFTIE!
“In 1939, my great grandmother, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, said of her first Tour of Canada with her husband, King George VI: ‘Canada made us.’ Catherine and I now know very well what she meant.”
I know people complain about the cost of a royal visit etc. etc., but I hope they’ll all shush for a moment and think about how wonderful it is to show off our country to someone who’s never experienced it before (Catherine in this case) - as well as show the world these two people in love and enjoying what our nation is.
I will now get off my patriotic soapbox (it’s covered in pics of maple leafs and poutine) and leave you with William’s final conclusion:
“Canada has far surpassed all that we were promised. Our promise to Canada is that we shall return.”
